Towards the end of 2019, I decided to take the bull by the horns and establish my own consultancy that would specialise in IT Operations Management. My plan was to hit the ground running in early 2020. However, the onset of the national lockdown in March of that year threw a spanner in the works. The lockdown lasted for two years, and it was a challenging time for all of us.

In hindsight, I'm not sure if the lockdown was a blessing in disguise or a curse. On the one hand, some of my friends had to bite the bullet and make tough decisions such as letting go of employees, re-mortgaging their homes, or even going bust, On the other hand, starting at the time I did, shielded me from some of the anxiety and trauma.

Determined to keep going, I was lucky to be approached by an ex colleague who was interested in partnering, so we decided to relaunch in 2022. However, the aftermath of the lockdown had left many businesses struggling and the rolling blackouts in the country added insult to injury, making things even more challenging for everyone.

Despite my best efforts to gain exposure for the business, in recent months, I found myself in a sort of panic by getting pulled in many directions with multiple ideas I had set out to put in place. Relaunch the website, advertise on various multimedia, start a blog, etc. I would start on one “great thing”, get a new idea, and jump to another without gaining any real traction.

So, I decided to go back to the drawing board and relaunch from scratch, taking baby steps initially and focusing on our LinkedIn business profile only. Once that's up and running, we can then move on to the website and so on. We've taken down our website and will be removing the current LinkedIn SQUAREdog profile to start afresh.

I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make the process interactive and interesting by sharing anecdotes and some “pearls of wisdom” about how I came up with the name "SQUAREdog Consulting," developed the logo, and other information required for creating the business profile as we go along.

Throughout this journey, I plan to post our progress, keep it light, share our story, and answer questions from those who are starting their own businesses or advertising campaigns or anyone who may be interested.

While I don't have all the answers, I believe that our network has many sharp minds that will be happy to offer advice and lend a hand. So if you follow the progress of the SQUAREdog Consulting business profile on social media, we hope you’ll gain some value.
